Design wall Monday

A bit of carpal tunnel surgery has slowed my piecing endeavors, sew I had a little help.

DGD#1Is making her first large quilt. We are using the turning twenty pattern that makes such a good first project. Can you tell she likes pink?

 I had to fondle a bit of fabric. I ordered a colorwash batik kit from Wanda at Exuberant Color. I had to look at her picture a lot, but it is finally in “ like-able” positions. I am amazed at the batik collection she has. She said to add from our stash, but I only could find about 4 fabrics to add. Mine is pitiful, mainly mediums. I really liked playing with this.

Your little helper looks like she's really enjoying herself. The turning 20 IS a great quilt to start with. Hope you are back to your regular self soon.

Help with Layout , please

I'm not sure how blogger will put these, but let's call the far left one - A, then b, c, d, as they go down. I could use some help deciding on a layout for these blocks. They are happy blocks with train fabric in the middle, and the border fabric is also trains. There is a border for the bottom, I just couldn't reach it very well. It's a donation quilt for the V&T symposium - a group trying to rebuild the Virgina and Truckee Railroad, but they also are friends of the Nevada State Railroad Museum. We go in a couple of weeks, so I need to get this one finished. I can't decide on a layout. If you would leave a comment on which one you like best, I would appreciate it. Glacier Star with extension, or 488 geese later. . . .

The top is finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It needs a good pressing, then ?? I don’t know if I want to try to quilt it myself. I keep thinking of quilting designs, but I’m not sure I have the skill to carry them out. I don’t want to mess it up after 488 flying geese! If you look at the picture closely, it looks like the left side is brighter, almost like stained glass. It’s because of where it is placed in the living room, the only place large enough for the picture. Here’s the un-cropped photo. The DGK’s had moved all the furniture to the walls so they could build a fort. Works for me!    Happy Quilting, Becky

A Christmas wall hanging

This is the first fusible project I made. It was about 1994, and I didn't know to be concerned about how it turned out. The fused clouds are really heavy, and of course quilting didn't do anything for them as they are so stiff. I hand quilted the upper sky, trying to give definition. It was "birthed" rather that bound, so the edges remain puffy. Even with all that, I love this angel. My DIL's friend fell in love with it, and wanted one so badly, that for the next Christmas I made her one in teals. She loved it.
