Many Friday finishes

We added Intelliquilter to my longarm (Black Bart - a 24" Nolting Pro). In learning it I have finished up a LOT of small UFOs that I didn't remember existing. I used to make small quilts out of my scraps so I could remember the large quilt since I give so many away. These are my latest finishes: St. Louis 16 patch, scrappy, charity quilt for teen-age boy Quilted with IQ - QOV pattern 9-patches bought at Guild Boutique made into Sister's Choice blocks - baby quilt Quilted way too densely with IQ swirls and Pebbles 24" x 18" HST sampler - first try at "Custom" quilting with IQ All the designs came from the "from Helen"  file on IQ Baby quilt made from HSTs - 6" bought from Guild boutique Made it a "Sampler" of quilting patterns on IQ Framed 9-Patches from Guild Boutique with Rosebud alternate squares Working on SID with IQ and repeating patterns 20 year old pillow blocks quilted...

Introducing Black Bart - my quilting place

Image
Black Bart has arrived and is ready to quilt! A friend has already put Bart through his paces, and quilted a baby quilt. Making room for Bart has been quite an experience, and time consuming, but the quilting place is finally ready for sewing again. Black Bart needed additional lighting. DH installed new track lighting (instead of the non-functional one previously there), as there really isn't room for the Nolting light bar frame. Does anyone out there need a 14' free-standing light bar? If you don't have a long-arm machine, it would be good for growing hanging plants! My design wall behind Bart is becoming just a display station, as it is really not accessible and I would just knock any blocks down with my backside. My piecing space cha nged as well. There is now shared space in front of my sewing table. The table scoots back when using Bart, and is pushed back out for sewing. I haven't figured out the power part. There is a floor plug in front of the table, but the ...

No posts, but still here

Hi, out there, I'm still here, just not doing much quilting. Little girls need dolly dresses, and I'm moving things about, trying to make room for the quilting machine at my house. My partner wants me to buy her out or sell the machine, so I finally decided to crowd it in here. Nolting is bringing 12' table parts to trade out for my 14' when they come to MQS in May. It will be used in the hands-on classes the first two days, and DH and I will drive over in the truck and trade out the pieces when they take the tables out, and move the whole thing up here. It's a lot of work for DH, but he loves me very much and wants me to be happy. Yes, he is a keeper! I had a bit more work on my left knee today. It was holding up the rehab on my new right knee. Maybe this will make them come out even (and good!). The hardest part is being off arthritis meds for the week before surgery. I'm back on them tonight, so the worst is over!! I'm really looking forward to...

Exciting trip to Hiawatha, IA

We've loaded the Nolting (long arm) machine and parts to the table for our trip to Hiawatha, IA tomorrow. The Nolting needs a new chip in the stitch regulator, and Nolting is graciously making up table parts to turn the 30" table back into a 24" table to match our machine, a 24" Pro. It will be so wonderful to work from the back side and actually be able to reach across the quilt! We bought the machine from a dealer who was no longer representing Nolting several years ago, and we were not told that the table and the head didn't match. When we ordered the Circle Lord and it didn't fit is when we found out that is was a different size. We are Newbies at this. I'm washing up the four quilts of valor so we can mail them on the way out of town tomorrow. I will be glad to send them on their way and have that task marked off my list. I'm sure after we reassemble the Nolting I will want to be down there until about Christmas time. VBG. Happy quilting...
